Winter 2023

The Origin Denomination project was launched by APPCACAO. The goal is to protect native cacao in a region where over 75% of the cacao grown is now a modern hybrid. Only farmers from a specific area who can prove they grow native varieties and produce well-fermented, well-dried cacao of high quality with a distinct flavour profile will be able to sell it under the “Origin Denomination Amazonas.” Original Beans has been supporting this process and is the first buyer of D.O. Amazonas cacao.

Autumn 2023

Product development began at Norandino through a collaboration between Original Beans and the local team to create the chocolate recipe.
